Schottische Unabhängigkeit, "Brexit": So könnte Frankfurt das neue London werden

Frankfurt gegen London. Für Finanzplatz-Veteranen klingt das nach einem Duell aus längst vergangenen Zeiten. Um die Jahrtausendwende mögen sich die beiden Städte noch gestritten haben, wer auf Dauer die wichtigere Bankenmetropole werden kann, doch seit vielen Jahren ist der Zweikampf keiner mehr. Zu übermächtig ist London als Europas Finanzzentrum Nummer eins, und daran hat auch die schwerste Finanzkrise seit Jahrzehnten nichts Grundsätzliches geändert.

Doch nun gibt es auf einmal unverhoffte Hoffnung für den Finanzstandort Deutschland: Immer mehr Banken und andere Finanzfirmen interessieren sich plötzlich für einen Umzug von London nach Frankfurt. Grund dafür sind allerdings nicht neu entdeckte Vorzüge der Mainmetropole – sondern das ungeklärte Verhältnis der Briten zum Rest Europas.
