Eine kleine Revolution im Finanzsektor: Start Ups machen den Banken ihr Geschäft streitig

Die High Street in Shoreditch. Was noch vor wenigen Jahren abgeranzt und schäbig war, gilt heute als hip und angesagt, es gibt eine Pop Up-Mall, Cafés und viele junge Unternehmen. Eines davon sitzt im „Tea Building“, einem alten Teekontor gegenüber der Mall. Hier vollzieht sich, von vielen unbemerkt, eine kleine Revolution, die die Welt der Banken in den kommenden Jahren stark verändern könnte. Vom Tea Building aus managt Transferwise eine Onlineplattform, über die sich europäische Währungstransfers günstiger als in einer Bankfiliale abwickeln lassen. Das junge Unternehmen ist nur eines von vielen, das sich auf eine Finanz-Dienstleistung spezialisiert und damit den etablierten Banken das Leben schwer macht. “Die Banken sind viel zu unbeweglich und zu langsam”, erklärte mir Transferwise-CEO Kristo Käärmann am Freitag im Interview.
