Energy Outlook: BP prognostiziert Boom bei Erneuerbaren Energien und Schiefergas

Mehr, mehr, mehr: Der Hunger der Welt nach Energie wird in den kommenden Jahrzehnten weiter steigen. Um 41 Prozent, so prognostiziert der „BP Energy Outlook 2035“, wird der Energieverbrauch bis 2035 zunehmen. Der Großteil der Nachfrage kommt dabei aus den Schwellenländern, heißt es in der Studie, die der britische Energiekonzern am Mittwoch in London vorstellte. Aufgrund neuer Technologien sei der steigende Energiebedarf aber zu decken, sagte BP-Chef Robert Dudley. Ab 2030 werde es in den Industrieländern trotz wirtschaftlichen Wachstums sogar sinkende Energieverbräuche geben.

Laut Energy Outlook steigt die Nachfrage für Öl und Kohle am langsamsten, das Förderkartell OPEC verliert deshalb in den kommenden Jahren an Bedeutung. Schiefergas und nachwachsende Rohstoffe werden dagegen wichtiger, erneuerbare Energien sollen schon 2025 einen größeren Marktanteil als die Atomenergie haben. Ein so genannter „shale gas shock“, ein Schiefergasschock, wird die USA BP zufolge unabhängig von Energieimporten machen.
