Chinesische Währung: Frankfurt will Drehscheibe für den Renminbi werden

Er war mit großen Zielen und einer großen Delegation nach China gereist, hatte in Peking Hände geschüttelt, in Shanghai ein „Hessen Forum“ organisiert. Doch etwas revolutionär Neues konnte Hessens Wirtschaftsminister Florian Rentsch in der Millionenmetropole an der chinesischen Ostküste noch nicht verkünden. Nur ein Webportal für chinesische Touristen in Deutschland, daodeguo.com, war am Mittwoch im JW Marriott Hotel im Zentrum Shanghais am Volksplatz vorzuführen. Denn das, was im Zentrum der China-Reise der Hessen stand, das braucht Zeit: Frankfurt will sich als Offshore-Hub für den Handel mit der chinesischen Währung Renminbi etablieren und kontinentaleuropäische Konkurrenten wie Paris und Luxemburg ausstechen. Zwar gibt es seit Oktober eine Swap-Line zwischen der EZB und der People´s Bank of China für den Tausch von Renminbi und Euro, eine europäische Clearingbank fehlt jedoch bislang. Trotzdem hoffen die Hessen darauf, langfristig einen großen Teil des außerchinesischen Renminbi-Handels nach Frankfurt zu holen. „Ein Renminbi-Hub in Frankfurt bringt beiden Seiten etwas“, sagte Florian Rentsch, „wir wollen Transaktionen einfacher machen, auch die Chinesen sollen profitieren.“ Meine aktuelle Geschichte aus der WELT lesen Sie hier.
